2008/2009

Pacific Gallery Artists continued its monthly meetings at South Park Community Center on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from September through May. An average of 35 members attended each month. Meetings consist of a business meeting, refreshments, and a program or demonstration. During this year representatives from all the fine arts were program speakers or demonstrators on various aspects of art or exhibiting art.

This year the group began to have a 'mini show' at each  meeting, with a chair person (Karen Marie Petrellose) to handle the show. Members display a work and vote on those being shown. Ribbons are given each month.

Two formal shows were hung at the Lakewood Library Friends Gallery. The juried show had 75 works; the second, 'Just for Fun' show had 35 works by PGA artists on display.

Outside activities included an afternoon tea, hosted by our website manager, Crystal Olmsted; a tour of the monarch Sculpture Park in Tenino and a tour of the Hoivik's sculpture studio in Tacoma.

Our long time membership chairperson, Patricia Ducolon, was given a Certificate of Appreciation, recognizing her many years of service and devotion to the group. Although relinquishing this position, she will remain an active member. JoAnne Weaver is assuming the membership responsibilities.

The highlight of the year was the art raffle in June, held at the Foss Waterway Seaport. It was attended by 50 people and consisted of 31 works of art valued at approximately $7500. The net proceeds raised were $1281 and established the PGA education fund.

We're looking forward to what the new year has to offer. Check out the programs planned thus far on our Activities Page and remember - guests and new members are always welcome. We hope you'll join us.'
