Year in Review

2011 - 2012 Program Schedule
General meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7:00 p.m., South Park Community Center, Tacoma.

September Program

Touch drawing with Cecelia Sullivan.  She will introduce us to the quiet adventure of being bold and spontaneous as she glides her hands over paper laid on a painted surface.  She will show how to use this as a starting point to creativity that has endless applications.

October Program

Chuck Gumpert will visit us.  The local, abstract artists specializes in offbeat figurative mixed media paintings.  Chuck received his fine art degree from Cypress College in CA and is represented by numerous galleries all along the west coast of the US.

November Program

This night will be one of fun, Progressive Art.  Bring a medium of your choice and tools for application (as well as a support to work on) and unleash the creativity!  We'll spend only a few minutes working on our first piece and then all will rotate art to our neighbors and then add to the "new" piece in front of us.  After 45 minutes of repeated rotations, we'll end with a mini show of the results.  No pressure - just fun experimentations.

December Program

Christmas Party Time!  This year it will be held at the Boy Scouts of America Facility, 4802 So. 19th, Tacoma.

January Program

PGA member, Mary Schumaker will reveal some of her secrets and techniques to applying watercolor to Yupo paper.  Mary has studied at U.P.S. and also the Burnley School of Professional Art.  She expresses herself artistically in mixed media, acrylics, watercolor and monoprinting.  The award winning artist currently shows her work at Puyallup's Gallery Three.

February Program

Sculptor and poet Patty McPhee comes to be with us this night.  She will share with us her methods for creating sculptures and paper reliefs of her work.

March Program

Sherri Bails comes to visit us this month.  The watercolorist depicts scenes of the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii which are infused with energy and color.  Sherri is a popular teacher who received her art education degree from Northern Illinois University.

April Program

Fumiko Kimuro will be our guest this month.  The multi - award winning mixed media artist will share some of her new works using sumi with collage and stained tea bags.

May Program

This month award winning pastel artist, Mary McInnis will share with us her approach to creating pastel paintings.  Her training background is expansive, culminating in a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting at the University of Washington.

June Program

Potluck or Raffle.  TBA

Our Third Annual Art Raffle was held at BSA (Boy Scouts of America) in Tacoma from 7-9pm.
