Gail received her B.A. in Art Education at Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. She taught art in both elementary and high school levels in the Tacoma School District for nine years. She has given private art lessons and taught a special gifted program at McCarver Elementary School. Gail was hired as Curator of Education at the Tacoma Art Museum in 1976 where she gave educational tours, trained docents and installed exhibitions in the "Children's Gallery", and was employed there for ten years. The Metro Park District of Tacoma has been her employer since 1989 where she teaches drawing and painting classes.
Acrylic painting, mixed media and collage techniques interest her the most. Much of her inspiration is derived from textures and abstractions seen in nature. The three-dimensional and tactile surfaces are what excite her most of all. Creations from modeling paste, assemblages of rusty metal, feathers, fur, shells, quills, and sand are some of the materials she uses to achieve unusual colors and textures.
